For these to be continuous, we need to have the left side limit equaling the right side limit. So at X equal -3, the left side is going to be -3. The right side is going to be that AX minus B, but it's at the location -3 so we're going to put -3 And for the X so -3 equal -3 A-B at X = 3, we need the left side limit to be the same as the right side limit. So at 3:00 we'd have a * 3 - B, and on the right side we'd have six, so three a -, b = 6. Now I'm going to take those two equations we came up with. I'm going to combine them in order to solve for A&B. If I add them exactly the way they are, the A's will cancel and -2 B equals 3, so B is -3 halves. If I then take -3 halves, substitute it in for B in either of the two equations, and solve for AI get a equaling 3 halves. I'm going to subtract the three halves and divide by three and simplify as I go.
