Looking at the two triangles, we know sine of π force π force is
really 45°.
So sine is opposite over hypotenuse.
So we're going to have opposite being one over root 2 cosine of
π thirds.
Cosine is adjacent over hypotenuse and π thirds is the
same thing as 60°, so that's 1/2 tangent of π thirds is opposite
over adjacent or root 3 / 1.
So when we get this simplified, we end up with 1 / 2 root 2
minus root 3.
We don't want to leave a radical in the denominator, so we're
going to multiply this one by root 2 over root 2.
If we multiply by root 2 over root 2, we're going to end up
with root 2 / 4 minus root 3.
And that's going to be an exact answer.
If we wanted to get a common denominator, we'd have root 2 -,
4 root threes all over 4.
