Given two points, we're always going to be able to find the slope. So M equal the change of YS 4 -, 3 over the change of XS 6 -, 2. Make sure that up and down are from the same point, so that four and six had to be from the same point. So did the two and the three. So once we compute this out, we know our slope is 1/4. Now we're going to use point slope form and it doesn't matter which point we use y -, 3 equal one 4th X -, 2, or we could have used y -, 4 equal 1/4 X -6. So if we distribute out the one fourth, one 4th X -, 2 fourths and two fourths is really 1/2, take the -3 / + 3. Getting a common denominator, we'd have negative 1/2 and +6 halves. So Y equal one 4th X + 5 halves. If we look at this other one, we need to distribute the one fourth one 4th X -, 6 fourths, which is 3 halves plus four. Once again, getting a common denominator that four is going to turn into eight halves and -3 halves +8 halves is five halves. So it didn't matter which point we used once we got our slope when we put it into point slope form.
