    When doing this problem, we're going to plot the points using our plus key. Here we're going to go -1 negative 1, so over to the left one and down 1, positive four -1 so to the right four and down 1, positive 4/8, so to the right four and up 8. So when we connect these points and ask what kind of figure we have and we can see that it's a triangle, 3 sided figure. But the area of the triangle, to find the area of a triangle, we're going to use the formula that area equals 1/2 base height here. We can see that there's a right angle right here. So we're going to count how far over the bases 12345 The base is a distance of five and the height is going to be a distance of nine. So if we have one half 5 * 9, we'd get 45 halves units squared. Or it might have said 22 1/2 units squared. Those are the same thing. Or even 22.5 units squared.
