The minus a negative here is a plus, and we can think of this five as 5 / 1. When we multiply 2 fractions, we're going to multiply the numerators and we're going to multiply the denominators. So -7 and five is going to give me a -35 four times. One is going to give me a four. Our directions up here tell us to use integers or fractions, so we need to get it in Y equal form. So I'm going to subtract the 8 next. So we get Y equal -7 fourths, X -, 35 fourths -8. Now we need to combine our like terms -35 force and -8 and neither one have a variable. So we're going to get a common denominator here. Once again, we're going to remember that a whole number is like being over A1. So we're going to put those both in terms of force y = -7 force X -, 35 force. Now, if I want to change 8 / 1 into fours, think about 8 / 1 equals how many over 4. The easiest way I can tell you to do this is to think about what did you multiply 1 by to get four, and the answer was four. So we're going to multiply 8 by that same number. So 8 * 4 is going to give us 32. So 8 / 1 is the same thing as 32 / 4. And our final step is going to be to combine those terms. So if I have -35 fourths and I have -32 fourths, that's going to give me -67 fourths for my final answer.
